I Can’t Fix A Broken Heart–But I Know Who Can
Today I am not presenting scripture, prayer cards, or pretty images. I am simply showing you my heart–my broken heart.
Honesty
Can I be honest with you? I’m tired and weary.
Here I am, 18 days into a series to provide hope for grieving hearts and my heart is a little raw. Scratch that–-Its a whole lot raw.
Sorrows Aplenty
I have a list of past losses, that still sting my heart and eyes. Since this series began, new losses and sorrows have been added, not just for me, but to my teen daughters as well.
My daughters are grieving things they shouldn’t have to. As a mom, watching their hearts break is overwhelming–because I cannot fix it for them.
I Can’t Fix Anything
Truth be told, I can’t fix a thing, but I do know the source of hope and restoration we all need–GOD!
No cliches or “Christianeese” speak. Not platitudes or anything that tells you everything is going to to alright.
Straight Forward Truth
No person, organization, medication, therapy group, friend, stranger, doctor, voo-doo person, or snake oil has the ability to change what has happened. They can provide much-needed support and comfort and I encourage every single one of them (except the voo-doo person and snake oils) to anyone who thinks they may need them. I have used most of these and found great help at different times and in different season of grief. .
While most of these have a definite place in the life of a grieving heart. true heart and mind restoration–aka HOPE–cannot be found in these places.
Gaining a Heart Knowledge of God: the ONLY true source of HOPE.
Oftentimes we stop at gaining a head knowledge of God, and miss the heart relationship that is available.
Heart Knowledge of Who God Is or Can Be to You
- Daddy God who cares and comforts His hurting children. (Comforter)
- Great Physician who has healing power and Holy Ointments that touch, comfort, and heal areas of your heart that nothing and no one else can touch. (Healer)
- Master Craftsman who who created the world from nothing in 7 days and is able build something beautiful out of the painful parts of your life. (Restorer)
Do You Want the Relationship?
If you find yourself wanting to know God as Daddy, Physician, or Craftsman, it all starts with relationship. There is no magic formula…just saying:
“Hey God, if you are these things, I’d like to get to know you–not a head knowledge, but a heart relationship one. I’m not sure of anything right now. This pain is overwhelming. If you are real and powerful, and can do these things–would you please reveal Yourself to me. Help me have eyes to see You in the midst of this pain and sorrow. Give me something to hold onto, because today I don’t feel as if I have anything left. In Jesus’ name-Amen”

Beautiful! Thank you for being honest and open… for letting us see that even in the midst of giving support and tools for the grieving – that none of us are immune to the need for Hope and healing –and yes, that heart to heart connection with our good, good Father!
Isn’t that heart relationship the BEST? What an honor that He chose us to be the ones He offers that to!
I’m sorry that you and your family and having tough times right now. I’m praying that each of you crawls up in your Daddy’s lap to receive the comfort he offers!
Thank you Anita. We definitely need to do that.
Beautiful words Tammy.
Praying for your family and your town.
Thank you
