In the midst of sorrow, can you imagine being filled completely with HOPE?
As we grieve the only thing we sense a fullness of is pain. What would our grief look like if we trusted God with it?
God is the Source of HOPE
According to Romans 15:3, God is the source of HOPE. It also says that this source of HOPE (God) will fill us with HOPE to the point of overflowing through the power of the Holy Spirit.
OVERFLOWING HOPE?
What would a season of grief look like if overflowing HOPE was present? It can’t be present without the source of the HOPE–God. So that is where we start.
Seeking God as the Source of HOPE
Oftentimes, while grieving, we seek God to remove our pain. What if we accepted pain as a byproduct of loss and focused on asking God to fill us with His HOPE instead of removing our pain?
In the presence of HOPE pain isn’t as all consuming as it is without HOPE. God doesn’t provide just a small measure of HOPE, but an overflowing abundance of it!
Confidant HOPE
The HOPE God provides in not a mediocre, passive hope. It is an overflowing CONFIDANT HOPE.
Confidant HOPE is a HOPE that trusts that God is still in control, even when circumstances are beyond your’s. It is a position of faith knowing God hasn’t abandoned you, and never will. It is trusting that even though life may suck, God doesn’t.
Dear God, Help me stop seeking you simply to take my pain away. Help me shift my focus to receive your overflowing confidant HOPE. Reveal to me what that is and help me trust you as I wait for it to intersect with the pain of my loss. In Jesus’ name-Amen.
