A LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS OF GRIEF
The darkness of grief is deep. When we grieve, that darkness threatens to choke all hope from our hearts and minds. The psalmist described it well when he said “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death” , because that dark shadow permeates every aspect of life.
Is that you? Are you there? Is the darkness of loss all you can see? Is it so permeating that it threatens to choke the breath out of you? I want you to know there is HOPE!
“Just breathe!” Fill your lungs to capacity slowly. Feel them stretch against the tightness grief has put there. Now slowly exhale. Do this 5 times, each time asking God let you see His light piercing your heavy darkness.
Grief can sometimes cloud our vision and we miss seeing God’s light piercing the heavy darkness. Ask Him to help you recognize when that light comes. Cling to God’s light as His promise that the darkness will not last forever!
God’s light HOPE will shine in your dark land of grief and loss. Ask Him to help you recognize it and embrace it when it does.
Dear God, I thank you for your promise that I will see your light piercing the darkness of my grief. Help me have eyes clear enough to recognize it when it comes. Help me breathe in the light of You as the darkness of grief tries to choke it out of me. I trust in You and your goodness to see me through this season of loss. I know you have not, and will not abandon me to the grief that feels like it wants to overtake me. Thank you again for your light that brings me HOPE in the darkness of grief.
